Sep 28, 2012   //   by Jacob Dall   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Just finished delivering a week long training for Advania (the second Whats New in AX2012 session for Advania this year, but by far the toughest :-). Lots of  questions were raised on AX2012 features wihtin the SCM and Finance area. Some were really challenging, but I think we got them covered in the end (after a couple of long evenings from my side  :-).  Here’s a link to the presentation material.

Thanks for a great week, looking forward to see you all on our next session…

Site dimension link dropdown does not list any dimensions! Why?

Jan 25, 2012   //   by Jacobdall@gmail.com   //   AX Finance, Blog  //  No Comments

I just came accross a very odd thing in standard AX2012. I was trying to link the CostCenter as a dimension type to inventory dimsion Site in order to have Site information represented onto ledger transactions. I do this in a brand new installation and we are months away from go live. My problem is that no Dimension types is shown in the dropdown list.

Dimension Link (linking site to dimension type in AX2012)

It turns out that you must first have posted a ledger transaction using the dimension type before it is shown in the dropdown list! Why? Have no idea, but it is not very practical to start making transaction before you can setup the system!!!
